Shaam Ashoka is a photographic genius with a born talent and a realistic eye to create magnificent photographs. With the added professional value he gathered from the Diploma in Photography in 2003, has sharpened his born talent with unmeasurable efforts and hardships. With the guidance of Lalitha Abesundara and Lal Hegoda, the masters of Sri Lankan still photography, he became a pioneer in capturing weddings in 2004.
Shaam’s uncomparable ability to capture the moments beyond the naked eye has earned him so many awards including a silver medal in 2005 from the National Association of Photographers Sri Lanka, two gold medals and a bronze medal from 51st international exhibition in 2006 which conducted by the photographic society of Sri Lanka, A bronze from Photo Star circuit competition in 2009, winner of Life - 2010 Serbia Europe FIAP Honorable Mention, 1st place from both color and black and white categories of All Island EPSON competition, NAPSL RIBBON award for the international composition organized by the National Association of Photographers Sri Lanka, 3rd place of fotostar on the spot photo contest and the Gold medal for NEGPO photo rally in 2012.
Shaam Ashoka presented his first memorable collection of wedding photographs in 2015, "Seya Roo Sara". It was highly praised by the community including the pioneers of the field. It was at a huge success, earning the recorded number of audience ever attended to an exhibition held at Lionel Wendt Art Centre.
